- To conduct research on the taxonomy, biology, ecology, distribution and control of acari related to acari-borne diseases of medical and public health importance
- To provide ad hoc training and consultation on various topics such as identification of ticks and mites, and specific laboratory and field techniques used in Acarology research
- To offer services which includes identification of acari and evaluation of products for the control of acari
- To seek collaborative research with both local and foreign institutions
