The lMR library began as a reading room with the founding of the Institute in 1901. Working in line with the research development of the Institute, it has been growing through the 20th century and it currently occupies the front wing of the Central Block and a portion of the South Block of the heritage building.
The IMR library, apart from keeping up with the state of the art in providing the relevant resources and facilities for the researchers, has also been entrusted with the preservation of the genius works and collections held over the years.
The IMR library holds the depository collection of the Ministry of Health publications. In resource sharing at the national and international level, the library supports IMR in being the Secretariat to Malaysia’s National Journal Selection Committee (NJSC) and it is a collaborator and coordinator in ensuring sustainability of the country’s journals in health and medicine. Thus, the library is also involved in the development of journal contents in enriching of the WHO Western Pacific Region Index Medicus (WPRIM) database.
