This unit functions as a repository which gathers and disseminates information on herbal medicine and related areas. The main business is compilation of a comprehensive database containing ethnomedicinal and scientific information on medicinal plants which can be used as reference. The unit is also actively involved in the web-portal project, “Global Information Hub on Integrated Medicine” and carrying out studies on the modalities of Traditional and Complementary medicine in Malaysia.
- To compile traditional and scientific information on medicinal plants to be used as reference in the form of compendium, pharmacopoeia and monograph
- To facilitate the establishment of a Global Information Hub on Integrated Medicine for the World through Malaysia, utilizing strategic partnerships with other nations, international organizations and Non-Governmental Organisations
- To develop a voucher specimen collection that can be used as a record and reference for validation of plants being researched
- To carry out studies on the modalities of Traditional and Complementary medicine in Malaysia
